An Urgent Call to Action!
We encourage you to read and share this article explaining the urgent need to advocate for of our childcare system in Connecticut and around the county. Please click on the link to read an op-ed written by Merrill Gay of the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance and Elizabeth Fraser with the Connecticut Association for Human Services, published on July 22, 2020 in the CT Mirror.
Also, below is further information from the Alliance’s Merrill Gay urging us to contact Congress and encouraging others to do the same. It is our hope that you are called to action! Thank you!
“Congress went back into session yesterday and CT reached a milestone. Both of our Senators and all of our Representatives co-sponsored Congresswoman DeLauro’s Child Care is Essential Act that allocates $50 billion dollars for child care.
Here is the real news. What happens this week in Congress is much more important. Today Senator McConnell laid out the elements of the Republican plan for a final Covid relief package before the election. It includes some money for child care. How much is not clear and definitely still up for negotiation. The reality is that our best chance of getting real help for the child care industry will be decided this week in the negotiations over that relief package.
PLEASE MAKE 3 PHONE CALLS RIGHT NOW! CALL BOTH SENATORS AND YOUR REPRESENTATIVE!
Thank them for co-sponsoring the $50 billion Child Care Is Essential act and ask them to please speak to leadership about putting that $50 billion into the Covid Relief package.
