National Parks and Recreation Month has been celebrated annually since July 1985. This recognition month is intended for US communities to connect with their local (or national) favorite parks and recreation areas and explore the beauty of the outdoors.

The month is also meant to bring recognition to our hardworking parks and recreation staff members who help to maintain clean facilities, park safety, tours and a handful of other crucial roles to park maintenance. National Parks and Recreation Month 2024 celebrate the way these professionals unite their communities and foster a sense of belonging through equitable and diverse programmings and other accommodations.
