On Sunday February 23, 2020 the Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington took part in the 11th Annual Southington Healthy Family Funfest, which took place at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville. This local community festival focuses on all aspects of what comprises healthy families.

Each year this free event attracts hundreds of people ranging in age from newborn baby to well-lived senior. Dozens of resources were made available to families, which including health screenings, demonstrations, entertainment, and wellness tips from a variety of local organizations. The YMCA had an entire superhero-themed space dedicated to children where they could take part in obstacle races, dancing, arts and crafts, and much more! There were cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, eye tests given by the Lion’s Club, and a relaxation station where attendees could receive a face, neck, and head massage. There were martial arts demonstrations, CPR and First Aid stations, and fresh produce stands scattered about. There were certainly enough activities, information, and fun to keep families happy! The event was presented by Hartford Healthcare and the Southington/Cheshire YMCAs.
